Forest therapy

Today many people live in highly developed and stressful environments; more and more people return to “mother nature” to reconnects with our natural origins, By immersed in that environment, you can change the mind and release the pressure.
what is forest therapy?
“Forest Therapy”is a research-based healing practice through immersion in forests with the aim of promoting mental and physical health and improving disease prevention while at the same time being able to enjoy and appreciate the forest.

history
this activites have existed in many cultures and tribes. you may heard Shinrin-yoku (森林浴) before, the concept of Shinrin-yoku (森林浴) was introduced in Japan in the early 1980s and may be regarded as a form of nature therapy.
Japan is setting up the Centers to help support better health of their citizens.
In Taiwan, there are 60% of the land is covered with forest, various species live in different altitude, therefore it's good to develop forest therapy . In germany and japan also other countries have pushed forward this activities around ten years. so it a new trend. . In Nantou, Chitou Forest Recreation Area promote the forest therapy in recent years.
Features
“Forest Therapy”encompasses all the general recreational activities in the forest.
but what we do it is neither hiking nor mountain climbing.
To practice “Forest Bathing”, there are activities such as mindful meditation or yogic breathing, aromatherapy and forest walking. To experience the 5 senses during the 2 to 3 days trip , it can also enjoy living the village and eating local meals.
Through activities can release the pressure and improve the immune function ,it also except preventive medical effect. In the future, “Forest Therapy”may assist various therapies in the medical field.
this is what we learned in class
every week we have different teacher introduce forest species. for example, the history of the forest therapy, introduce various kinds of insect ,soil. learn how to climb the tree. and there is the weekend ,we went to Chitou(溪頭)and sleep in the village one night. We do the pressure test with the saliva Audition and made the natural dyes, from cut to cook leaves in 7 steps, and the most important part : 5 senses experience, eat the spices, smell, touch the tree.
why interesting to me?
Is not like other course, only have a teacher. there is no certain teacher in the class to teach us. In class I can still feel relax because of the picture and video let me be in the forest. and this is my first time to experience the forest in detail.

Taiwan have various kind of species, after joining the class I recommend everyone to understand nature, it not only human live on the earth, forest bathing have release in recent year, the studied show that nature can help human become healthier ,no matter you are sick or not, immune in the forest, that brings you happy to enjoy the environment. More knowledge you get more grateful to be.
